Record Setting Production Car To Go Electric

The McLaren F1 was the fastest car in the world from 1998 to 2005 when the Koeniggsegg CCX broke that record. Then, barely a month and a half later, the Bugatti Veyron broke the mark set by the CCX at 253.81mph. The current record holder, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT pushed the mark to 256.18 almost a year ago. Now the company is setting its sight on an all new electric vehicle pushing 500bhp slated for 2009 and a 1000bhp through a 4wd system is also being considered.

This is what the press release says…

“The drive train under development will feature a revolutionary power source allowing for extended time between charging intervals with the possibility of several years between charging.”

The company is expected to roll out its first prototype in Feb ’09. The company is tight-lipped about its new battery technology, and no one on the outside knows how the car will be able to accomplish such a feat. Perhaps Fisker and Tesla should quit bickering and get to work before they get left in the dust.
