STEP – Smart Traveler Enrollment Program
STEP is a free service from the U.S. State Department that allows U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad to register their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Enrollment is strongly recommended before every international trip.

Remember: 911 does not work everywhere. Save the local emergency number for your destination before you travel. In most of Europe, 112 is the universal emergency number.
