Experience the Heart of Garifuna Culture
Kenima’s Garifuna Cooking Class invites travelers into the heart of Hopkins Village for an authentic cultural experience rooted in food, music, family, and Garifuna tradition.
This is more than a cooking class. Guests learn traditional Garifuna recipes, prepare food with local ingredients, enjoy cultural storytelling, and experience the rhythm and warmth of Garifuna hospitality.
About the Founder
Kenima’s was founded by Kenema Mae Williams, a proud Garifuna entrepreneur whose journey reflects resilience, hard work, and cultural pride.
From a small green storeroom in our yard, I created a Garifuna kitchen built with passion, vision, and determination.
Her story represents the kind of local entrepreneurship The Modern Green was created to highlight — businesses built from vision, culture, and community.
The Modern Green Perspective
Some of the best travel experiences are not found inside resorts. They are found around local tables, inside family kitchens, and through the people who preserve culture every day.
Kenima’s Garifuna Cooking Class gives visitors a chance to connect with Belize beyond the beach. Supporting this experience helps preserve Garifuna traditions while keeping travel dollars circulating within the local community.
